Dan McCoy, APRN-C
Family Medicine | Diabetes Coordinator

Dan grew up in Louisville, Kentucky and joined the Navy soon after graduating from high school. In the Navy he worked his way up to becoming an Independent Duty Corpsman, which is similar to a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner. After retiring from the Navy he completed a Master’s Degree in Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner with a post-masters certificate in Family Medicine.”

While active duty in the Navy and training at the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center, near Bridgeport, California - Dan fell in love with the Lake Tahoe/Carson City area. In 2006, he accepted a position at the Carson Tahoe Hospital emergency room. .”

As the Certified Diabetes Educator at Carson Medical Group, Dan believes that diabetes is one of the biggest preventable health problems in the country and that he can make a significant impact on people’s lives by helping them manage their diabetes.”

Dan encourages his patients to be involved in their own healthcare, and to think of themselves as a member of a team of many people including their primary provider, specialist, nurses and assistants, all focused on getting the best possible outcome of a happy, healthy life. .”

When Dan isn’t in the office, he enjoys being outdoors the most, and doing activities such as: hiking, mountain biking trail running, backcountry skiing, and camping.”
