Dr. Denise Pineda Fortin was born and raised in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. She moved to the United States for college. After obtaining her undergraduate degree, she spent a year in France where she was a volunteer in L’Arche a Cognac, a service organization where volunteers live in community and work to empower adults with intellectual disabilities. While in France she was also able to travel and learn about different cultures. These travels allowed her to learn and develop new language skills. Currently, she is fluent in 3 languages: Spanish, English and French.
Upon her return to the United States, Dr. Pineda attended Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, in Philadelphia.
Understanding the value of self-care, Dr. Pineda strives to educate and empower her patients to understand and manage their health care. She is particularly passionate about ensuring that patients of all backgrounds feel heard and informed about all aspects of their health and treatment plan.
Being close to relatives in the area and love for the outdoors drew Dr. Pineda to relocate to Northern Nevada. She is especially fond of the many hiking and running opportunities it provides. Dr. Pineda is an avid runner and has participated in numerous marathons in Dublin, Paris, New Orleans and Philadelphia. She also enjoys hiking and climbing. She spends her spare time with her family and young daughter.
